Book Marketing?

Posted by on January 3, 2021

Marketing? You mean to tell me I spent all this time writing but there’s still more work to be done? Marketing?!?

No doubt, the thought of marketing intimidates most fiction writers (at least those of us who are “normal” – i.e., introverts!). But marketing is a necessary part of being a successful author. And now that I’ve dabbled in it, I’ll admit it isn’t as terrifying as I’d imagined.

To date, I’ve done three interviews – one live (via telephone) and the other two via written response. The live interview was with Melinda Gipson, editor of Leesburg Lifestyle Magazine. What was supposed to be a blurb about THE WAYWARD SPY in the February issue has turned into a full-page interview for the March issue. Melinda and I hit it off and had a nice conversation about our careers, my writing journey, and THE WAYWARD SPY.

The two other interviews are blog interviews. The first, due out in February, is with a fellow author, Brandie June. Her debut novel, GOLD SPUN, is a fresh retelling of the Rumpelstiltskin tale through the miller daughter’s point of view (due out 5/11/21). The second interview, due out 3/8/2021, is with Karin Beery, an author and book blogger. I will post links to the interviews when they go live.

More to come…58 days until publication.
